When Should I Seek Treatment After A Car Accident or MVA?

Visit your doctor immediately so they can clear you of a serious injury such as a neck fracture. If you’re cleared, you should begin physical therapy right after your doctor’s visit.

If you are in too much pain after a car accident to drive to treatment, you may be a good candidate for mobile physical therapy.

How Long Should You Go To Physical Therapy After a Car Accident?

It depends on the severity of your injuries. I have seen patients from minor car accidents that caused pain for years following their accident, and people walk away from roll-over accidents with mild sciatica.

Who Pays for Physical Therapy After Car Accident?

If you paid for Personal Injury Protection (PIP) or Medical Payments (Med Pay), your auto insurance will pay for medical bills. Either of these is considered your primary source of medical insurance. Once their benefits are exhausted you can then use your personal health insurance.

If you do not have PIP or MedPay, then your health insurance can be used  and you will be subject to normal deductibles, copays, and co-insurances.

Should I Hire a Personal Injury Lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer is recommended if you are injured in a car accident. I would recommend this local firm, Desantis Law Center. They are a great resource and save you hours of work requesting medical records, reading police reports, medical charts, and communicating with insurance adjusters.
